Local rules
Immovable Obstructions Rule 24-2
- Ball lies in, on or so close to an obstruction which interferes with stance or area of intended swing. (Lift, clean and drop without penalty within one club-length of nearest point of relief from the obstruction).
- Young trees less than one club-length high. (All other trees are in play, staked or not).
- Seats, tee markers, signs, ball washers, flower beds, litter bins, distance markers, paths, wooden edgings of paths, wooden steps, protective wire on tees, all watering installations, sprinkler heads, stakes defining water hazards, shelters, ladders, bridges, direction indicators.
- If a ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard and is within two club-lengths of a sprinkler head on or within two club-lengths of the putting green of the hole being played intervening on the line of play between the ball and the hole.
Ground Under Repair Rule 25-1
(Lift, clean and drop without penalty within one club-length of nearest point of relief from the GUR).
- All ground so marked.
- Artificial hole cover and sprinkler heads on a putting green intervening on the line of putt between the ball and the hole. (Place in the nearest position to where ball lay which affords maximum available relief).
Water Hazards Rule 26
- Water hazards are defined by yellow stakes, lateral water hazards are defined by red stakes.
- Stakes and lines defining the water hazard are in the hazard.
Out of Bounds Rule 27-1
- Beyond the boundaries of the course, line of white stakes, and where defined by a line on the ground.
- The car park, clubhouse area, practice putting green and surround, machinery compound.
Others
- Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions (Rule 24-1 applies)
- All tee boxes are in play.
- A ball striking overhead wires and pylons must be replayed without penalty.
- A ball coming to rest in an aeration hole on the putting green of the hole being played shall be placed at the nearest spot not nearer the hole which avoids such situation.
