Juveniles
Guidelines:
General
Under 12s are not allowed on the course unless accompanied by an adult.
All juveniles must sign in and off the course in book at bar. This does not apply to comp
Juveniles are welcome on the course at most times, however it is not acceptable for golfers to be hanging around clubhouse and surrounds for too long before or after game.
It is important particularly when the course is busy that juveniles conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well on themselves as well as the broader juvenile group.
This involves letting quicker groups through, keeping noise levels down and avoiding the use of bad language.
It is important to note that the main adult competitions are held on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
At all times it is important to check at clubhouse before dropping juveniles to course.
In Skibbereen Golf club juveniles enjoy far greater playing priviliges than in other clubs.
For this to continue it is vital that particular note is taken of all the above.
Dress code: When playing in other clubs tracksuit bottoms and soccer/football jerseys are prohibited.
A certain flexibility is allowed for in Skibbereen juvenile dress code. This flexibility is dependent on Juveniles following the guidelines below.
When playing at home soccer/football jerseys are not allowed,
neat tracksuit bottoms are ok for younger players
Tailored shorts or trousers preferred for older players.
Competitions: Regular competitions are organised for juveniles. These are on every Wednesday.
Juveniles that have attained a handicap of 22 or less can play in mens competitions.
Age 15 and down can play off 22.
Age 16 up must play off 18.
This concession is conditional on individuals playing in the Juv competitions. They need to have played in 25% of juv competitions up to that time.

From June 2 Wednesday competitions will resume for non handicap golfers. @ 7
At this time Wednesday competitions will also resume for Handicap golfers.
Tee reserved 9 to 9.30 and 5.30.
Club match play. Starts June. Official handicap only.
Open events: There was a big increase in 2009 in Skibbereen juveniles playing in open events in other clubs. All clubs have a juvenile open day where juveniles from other clubs get an opportunity to play the course in an open competition. The cost of entry is usually € 5. Last year buses were provided by the club at a subsidised rate. We hope to continue and expand this in 2010. Supervision for buses was an issue. Any parent willing to help in the future please contact us.
Liaison with mens and ladies clubs.
Girls: Girls are also welcome to participate in Juvenile events. Discuss with ladies.
Lessons: A professional Adrian Whitehead from outside the club will be providing lessons as he has done for the last number of years . These are organised directly by Adrian himself . He can be contacted at 087 9049433
